Can anyone help, please? I am utterly confused.

From information off the O2 website it seems that my phone, a Motorola G(8) is not compatible with North American networks. Yet, an assistant at my local O2 shop, who examined my phone suggested I buy an "international bundle" for £6 per day so that I can use the phone in the States when I visit there later in the year. Having done further research, some sources say that my phone should work fine, others say it won't work. I only need it for emergencies or to make a call or two book cabs etc. One source, who seemed adamant that my phone will work suggested that I simply switch on roaming when I need to make a call then switch off afterwards. Can anyone enlighten me once and for all?

US have turned off 3g so you need to have 4g calling enabled to make calls.

USA - Roaming with O2

My phone shows the 4G icon at the top right of the screen so can I assume that it is 4G enabled?

4g needs to remain showing when you make a phone call.

It is 4g calling that is required, not just 4g.

@victim31150 Phone your answerphone and see if the 4G symbol remains at the top.

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

When I am at home and connected to WiFi the 4G icon at top right of the screen is greyed out. If I go out and the WiFi is disconnected the 4G icon is lit up. However, as soon as I make a call the icon is replaced by a H symbol. What does all this mean?

It means you do not have 4g calling enabled.

Contact O2 to enable it on your account.

You need to ask for 4G Calling to be enabled. It does not cost anything

Need to be clear here.

It is 4g CALLING you need. You already have 4g, but not the ability to use it for calls.

$g comes with wifi calling and is free to add,
