Ok So i get unlimited texts per month, i know my texts havent ran out because even if i texted my gf for 24 hours i doubt i'd use over 1,000 texts in a month, I have had £4.91 credit all day, not called anyone or texted anyone outside the 02 network, come 9/10pm i recvied a text off a 5 digit number, can't remember the number and i have deleted the message, balance didn't show that it had taken over £4 to read the message.... and no i am not subscribed to anything because it's such a rip off, my phones so old anyway i doubt that it wuld support mp3 ringtones and things, it barely manages web browsing, i am so annoyed, how are people able to send out random messages to numbers and cash in on it n get away with it without bein traced, it makes me so :robotmad: 02 Wont be able to read the text or number because of data laws etc....

Next time take a note of the number, then send a new text with STOP, and if that doesn't work ring CS and ask for their help.

How they got your number you can only speculate about.

there is a body that is responsible fro regulating this type of service called phonepayplus.

You can use the website the manage to look up details of these scammeres and report them. It will also tell you how to stop them it may be a plain stop or it may be stop all.

Its not opening the message that causes the charge, it's the message arriving on your phone.

What you should do is enter the five digit number at phonepayplus.org.uk this will tell you who sent it, how to get a refund and allow you to make an official complaint. Which will get the people responsible fined.

The text backup part works on all phones it is only contacts that is model dependant.
