Ring O2 for iPhone 4. It works!

Okay so after much reading and confusion about how exactly to get an iPhone 4, I assumed that I would just have to sit back and wait for one. I tried ringing all my local O2 stores, ringing carphonewarehouse stores and order line, same with phones4u etc etc.

I thought Id ring O2 upgrades and see what they said. I knew it, "No your average monthly spend is only £42.08, and you need to pay at least £50" Odd I thought, as my contract is £45 a month so how could it be less, but nevertheless I didn't question it.

So I rang back. "No we dont do the early upgrade offer over the phone, has to be instore"

Ring again. "Need to be gold member"

Ring again. "Try instore mate"

...and again "Sure Mr Petch, we'll do that right away"

My only tip is to keep trying. I was planning on making up some story about "was told to ring this number, i was Guaranteed to get an upgrade, speak to your manager, going to cancel" etc etc but there was no need!

Anyway, I hope this helps some!

Jordan.

For everybody that this method has worked for, what tarrifs are you on???

Also, what stories did you use? I mean what did you say? What method did you take>

I've phoned 4 times, 3 yesterday, 1today and have had no luck.

I'm on 30 quid a month contract.

I was thinking of asking them to put me through to cancellations so they would upgrade me, but i'm scared they'll actually put me through. I guess I could just hang up!

I used no story, just asked to be upgraded and they did it, no questions about priorty lists or anything, just "you know theres a cancellation fee right?" which I did!

Id do the complaints thing, but just make it sound convincing. People might think its unfair to try and trick O2 but tbh, it seems they themselves don't know whose allowed to upgrade and who isn't!

And lets face it, nowhere does it say that you CAN upgrade on the phone, it says the opposite, so why are they letting people?

Ask to speak to a supervisor, least then they know your not being serious. Or say you were halfway through a transaction and it cut off, why can't I now? Whose to say your lying?

Was it the early upgrade offer? If so, how long did you have left?

I used this number 0844 809 0202

My contract was £30 per month.

I was already out of contract when i called and had no problems upgrading.

I was allowed to upgrade on the phone, and should be recieving it today or monday. I called last week and was told i could only get it from an o2 store, so I stood in a que and didnt get one. So I called o2 and asked what I could do and straight away she upgraded me. And it wasn't an early upgrade offer as my phone is due for an upgrade anyway

Hi,

Yes I used the early upgrade offer, so it was £20 a month, and my contract expired in October 2011, so I had MORE than a year left on it.

And I used 2302 then options 2, 2, 1, 2 and got put in a queue!
