As of now Virgin Mobile have ceased to sell New Phones, and Airtime Packages. There are no upgrades either.

Giffgaff have been added to SIM only.

I got warning of this a few weeks ago but was asked to keep quiet.

Seems they wanted it to go out with a whimper.

End of an era started in 1999 as the first UK MNVO

To be fair, it started so well as a unique MVNO, with phones that where unique such as the Lobster the DAB-IP TV phone, that I had and then realised how useless it was at times, but it ran Windows Mobile 5 and only used GPRS

They where innovative, but whoever came up with the Belgian Sims, with UK numbers idea, needs hitting over the head with a frying pan..

RIP Virgin Mobile and 789

The Belgian SIMs came about when they became a 'Thick' MNVO handling everything themselves

They had no roaming partner arrangements and to negotiate from scratch would be time consuming and expensive so they used a Belgian proxy that did!
