O2 PAYG versus a O2 24 month contract

I'm travelling to Spain in a few week and am thinking about changing from a PAYG to a 24 month contract as I was informed it would be better for making and receiving calls due to no 4G calling with PAYG while roaming.

Are there any other benefits to having a 24 month contract?

eg 5G usage or other benefits either in the UK or while roaming.

Is it possible to put a bill limit on an O2 contract as offered by Talkmobile?

Finally, on a PAYG while roaming does my allowance cover texting back to the UK?

Thanks in advance

@Hutches

On contract, you get 5g, wifi calling and up to 25gb of free EU data when roaming.

You can apply a zero spend cap to avoid extra charges.

Texts back to UK are included on PAYG.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Thanks @MI5 though I'll have up to 25G roaming on my PAYG sim.

As a side note My O2 tells me I have over 50G to use in Europe due to roll over data which was surprising.

"You have 53891.0MB of data, 49 international minutes to 42 countries, unlimited minutes and unlimited texts left in your Big Bundle. EU Fair Usage applies. You have 51200.0MB left to use in Europe"

But still only 25GB per billing cycle, @Hutches - so 25GB in month 1, 25GB in month 2 and that's it, as 63days is all they'll allow you to use without your phone reappearing on a O2's UK network for a while.  Good luck!

@Hutches

Your real benefit when roaming is the ability for 4g calling.

All else is the same.
