** O2 Joggler, tips, tricks and reports. **

Anonymous
Not applicable
I've had my Joggler for 3 days now and have been tinkering with it myself, and as moderators browse this board, I guess this could be an "official" thread for reporting any flaws and possibly demanding features!!! wink

Tips:

* When on the clock screen, if it is too bright, hold finger on display to turn it down.

* To stream music from laptop (I've only tried Vi$ta): Click "Tools" --> "Connect and Play" (You're "Media Server" must be turned on and available on your network.)
Windows Media Player --> Tools --> Options --> Library --> Configure Sharing --> CheckBox "Share My Media To" --> Choose all devices and click "Allow".

*To get to big clock screen saver - Click date and time Top Right Corner

Nags:
* ALARM CLOCK RESETS AFTER POWER LOSS :robotmad:
* Traffic APP is poo!

Requests:
* Still too bright at night 😞 need more brightness control how about 10% - 100%?
Or possibly for customisable standby time? - Not just screen saver
* Maybe a User Adjustable LCD OFF timer - so the backlight goes off completely?

* I managed to find a flaw in the O2 calendar website too... If I try adding a new user with the same E-mail and Phone Number it locks up. I wanted to set up a "Personal" tab and a "Work" tab.....

The Joggler could be so good but it's actually rather poor.

Please O2 - give us the following.

1st, a web browser. I understand that you don't want kids using this to access porn but you have my DoB in your database, give me a passcode and let me choose if I want a web browser on it or not.

2nd RSS. I want to read my feeds, not Sky's annoying and irrelevant news.

3rd Folder Browsing for connect & play. I hate WMP, all my music library is in folders. Additionally I have Vista Business and media sharing just doesn't work on it.

4th Calendar import. It would be SO fantastic to be able to synch with my work calendar and yes, even with my phone (you ARE a phone service provider after allm make me use my data plan for christ's sake!). This would be SO easy to implement, it's not realistic to expect me to move my life to O2 calendar....

5th Give us web radio, come on already, why is this not enabled yet!!?!?!??

6th let us write our own apps for it, I want to write a facebook picture reader to give me all the latest pics my pals upload...

7th let us put Linux on it and run it properly lol grin

Had the Joggler for 2 weeks now #### in its current form it really is just pants. Particularly the no browser and no calendar synch, what the #### were you thinking?

Had the Joggler for 2 weeks now and I'm only keeping it in anticipation of being able to completely hack it soon, as in its current form it really is just pants. Particularly the no browser and no calendar synch, what the hell were you thinking?

Exactly, me too! I only spent that amount of money because I decided it looked a reasonably good machine and in the anticipation of it being hacked!

O2, you know its going to happen - Look what happened to the IPhone! "Jailbroken" anyone?

It wont be long before people are increasing the inbuilt memory, adding bluetooth and putting their own OS onto it!

Shame I'm not into the hacking scene/advanced programming! Although I have tried several combinations to start it up in a service mode / access hidden menus!

I cant even unscrew it!

All good things come to those who wait grin

I've already brought a lot of this up, o2 wasn't too sure how this would go down with the public so didn't want to make it too app heavy.

In fact, when I first saw and heard about it, DAB radio was just a possibilty, if you look now it is something coming soon to thje Joggler.

I wouldn't be surprised of opera develop a browser for it and more things to become available but while it is still something quite new, they're not going to invest a lot of time in to something that might not work.

When you connect a USB drive to the joggler in order to play music does anyone elses duplicate songs?

On mine i have put 500 songs on a 16BG pen drive and on a PC and a Mac the finder shows one file per song yet when i connect to the joggler i have another 500 songs that are prefixed by ._ and do not play!

This doesn't happen with the 5 videos i have on there nor the photos just the music.

Sounds silly because when on shuffle it just skips them but it makes searching a pain (i have 161 pages of useless songs).

Any ideas or does anyone have the same problem?

P.S sure its not the make of the USB drive cos i've used a few different ones now.

Thanks slight_smile

All mp3. Some are Unprotected M4A. Tried deleting the .m4a songs so its all .mp3 but it hasn't worked so its not mixed formats.

STRIKE THAT. Problem solved. Hidden files slight_smile

Browser, RSS Feeds, Flickr. DAB/Internet radio - please please o2.

Ability to browse the device from a PC to add Pictures/Music/Videos directly into folders.

Looking at the Open Peak website I see these (and many more) apps shown on this platform. I don't particularly want to hack the device so come on O2 GIVE !
