Contact Customer Services who should be able to track this for you.

Do you have a direct debit with o2?
Then cancel this and soon o2 will write to you about the payment due, your account and mobile details will be on this letter.
You can then contact them with this information.

If you left the sim in the iPad you ar liable for any charges, you should have kept it. When you call in you can speak to someone without the number, just select 0, which does not exist as an option, and it will put you through. Ask them to trace your account via name and postcode, if you have given O2 a contact email address that is easier to find as it is unique to you.

You spoke to an idiot, I'm afraid. The trouble it's too much like hard work for some advisors to find your account without the number. Keep at it. If you cancel the DD you risk damaging your credit file just because some lazy sod can't be bothered to check. Good luck
