Glomobi - Am I cursed now?

Hi everyone

Just like to first of say that I am stupid. I have no idea why I did it, but I did and I will be the first one to admit that I am really stupid.
Or at least I had a moment where my brain froze and all reason went out the window. I never do these things!!
Anyway, now that that is out of the way, on to the issue.
Today I was lured by a win iPhone 4 page by Glomobi. It is one of those pages that let you put in your phone number for a chance to win stuff. Scams I know, and it is 99% sure is, but again.. I was stupid and had a brain freeze.

Afterwards I saw that they of course charge you £15. 10 SMS x £1.50. It clearly states that it is NOT a subscription. Same as stated on their homepage:

"The Glomobi service is a non-subscription service. To join the Glomobi service, you will pay one-time charges of £15. You receive 10 messages of £1.50. Besides these messages you will not receive any more messages. By participating in the competition you will receive 3000 credits to download 6 new games on your phone. By participating de Glomobi service you will have the chance to win a prize. The winner will be selected among all participants. Please note that for you must agree to the Terms of Service and that you will be responsible for any additional messaging and data charges charged by your mobile carrier. "

I then got 10 junk messages. Then the last message had the additional text "" and something about this being the last text.. etc. I have not gotten any more texts from them today, and hope that this is the only charge on my bill.

Now if my stupidity comes down to "only" £15, I will be happy.

My fear is that they will send more junk to me.

After searching online I found that most of the cases where it seems to be people getting sucked for money is in the states. Also after looking at their homepage in different regions (US vs UK f.eks) they differ a lot under the different sections.
Under the UK contact page it says:

"Because this is a non-subscription service you don't have to be unsubscribed to our serivce. You will only receive on time 10 messages. Besides these messages you will not receive any more messages."

while on the US one it says:

"How do I stop this service?
There are three ways to stop the service:
1: Via text/sms: Customers can opt-out at any time by sending STOP to the subscribing number of the specific service as mentioned on this website (e.g. 44644). The customer will be unsubscribed immediately.
2: Via e-mail: Customers can send an e-mail to us@glomobi.com containing the phone number that needs to be unsubscribed. The customer will be unsubscribed within 24-hours (during business days, otherwise on Monday after the weekend).
3: Via telephone help line: Customers can call the IVR help line number 1877 778 4715(toll free, 24hrs). They can call this number and leave their mobile phone number in the system. The phone number will be deleted from the database within 24 hours (on business days, otherwise on Monday after the weekend)."

So at least it seems like this is a one off thing over here in the UK.

My question of course is if anyone have any additional info or experience with this?
And if I do get additional charges, what can I do about it? Can o2 help me here? Change phone number? block it? etc

In advance, Thank you so much for your help!

The law regarding this will be different in the UK to the US, so that should be the end of it.

They seem to be playing by the rules.

You won't get caught by that one again!

I hope! grin

Unfortunately I also got stung by this company in the same way only 2 days ago, by entering a prize draw for an new Iphone. It wasn't that we are stupid, they are just sly and make you think that you are only giving your details to them so that thay can send your prize to you. Then at the end they kindly tell you that you have subscribed to their crap that they now want to charge you for.
I immediately unsubscribed only to get a text message within 1 minute of doing so. I therefore text back STOP to this, only to have a further 3 texts sent to me, all of which I was charged for, totalling £6.81 plus 17p for replying STOP!!!!
Not a happy bunny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :robotmad: :robotmad: :robotmad:
I have since emailed the company who sent this ad to me in the first place, and they fobbed me off to another company, who have since fobbed me off now to UKglomobi. I am now waiting on a reply from them as to why their free prize was misleading people into giving their details.
