Down grade a tariff

I  have reached the end of an 18 month Virgin sim only deal. Whilst the unlimited data during this period was fine I didn't need or use anywhere near that amount. Now I want to downgrade to a 50gb sim at £10 pm but when I go into "upgrades" it only shows the same tariff that I already have. Do I have to cancel the existing sim and then buy (and port  my number) to the new, lower tariff? I would far prefer to do this online if possible but all I can get is bots.

Go to USwitch

You will be transferred to O2 where you can choose upgrade.

You will keep your SIM and number but move to the new tariff 

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
