So ive been told multiple times now that my returned device would be cancelled, spent another hour and 30 minutes yesterday just trying to get 2 incredibly simple things done, cancel the contract on the returned phone, get my number since my phone for whatever reason doesnt have a number on the sim (no idea how), was told it would be sorted within 24 hours, its been longer than that, device still isnt cancelled. Its an Iphone so I cant do anything with it because I have no number to make the apple ID, so its literally useless, been without a phone for around 2 weeks as a result of things taking absurdly long.... anyway thats a rant

You can text Number to 2020 to get your mobile phone number.
They don't tend to print numbers on Pay Monthly sims anymore.
