iOS 10.3 Wifi calling

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello O2,

Why does O2 have no plans to support Wifi calling? Surely O2 wants to provide its customers with the most update technology? Surely this would enrich our devices and make our experience much better?

Although no network offers everything you are behind Three in your offers of Data, EE in terms of speed please don't fall behind in user features that are available with the phone.

We believe wifi calling is being tested but o2 will never confirm this or give any timescales for introduction.

Wifi calling is nothing to do with ios 10.3 and o2,  as it has been available since ios 8 from memory and o2 also do not support volte . All these are business decisions o2 take many threads about some of this .

Why not?

They already have VoLTE.

Id rather o2 not provide old, unreliable technology thanks (2005 BT launched it), Its been around since the Nokia 6300i and is prone to frequently dropped calls.

So 3 are only 12years late to the party..... well done 3!!

All IOS Beta 2 10.3 does is update some carrier settings to allow 3 to use UMA (unlicensed mobile access)..

Is this WiFi calling the same as the old Orange UMA we used to have?
I didn't realise if it was.
I must have been duped by more Apple marketing spin!

Its the same technology that has been in use since the Nokia 6300i and Blackberry 8320, it is the old UMA as Orange used to call it.

Not bad by apple reinventing a 12yr old technology
