Sim not supported

I recently purchased an iPhone SE from ebay. I then ordered o2 pay monthly sim. When I put the sim in the phone I get the message sim not supported. When I check the settings it says it is locked to o2 50.0. I'm confused because it should work then? I have requested unlock via myo2 to see if that helps but I'm mildly impatient. Any other ideas?

You do need to get Apple to check the phone then @Lauren28

It should work fine as you say.

Are you sure the phone is working and not faulty.

You can get Apple to run a diagnostic check to be sure.

I guess that's an option, but it otherwise seems to work fine with no sim inside?

It's potentially an issue with the sim card reader.

Have you any other sims to try?

Also check the IMEI number here as not uncommon for barred phones to be sold on eBay by scumbags.

Took the phone to an apple store and they told me it was in fact locked to a different network. Phone is now unlocked. Thank you for your help!
