Page keeps opening

I've had my iPad since Christmas and visit a football message board most days but this evening a different page keeps opening. I can open the board and maybe read one page but when I click on page 2 or go to another thread a whole different site opens, called The Doctors. Granted it's January and I've been reading lots of lose weight sites (😞)but haven't looked at this site and it's now a pain in my, big, backside! Any tips on how to stop this please?

Are you using safari.

If so go into your iPads settings.

Settings - Safari - Turn on ' Block Pop Ups '

This may help along with clearing your cookies in your settings too.

Basically it means the web address.

Ie : what do you type in to get to a particular Internet page.

Another setting which may may help G-MacK is Java Script.

"Allow JavaScript
To change your settings, tap Settings > Safari > Advanced and turn JavaScript on or off. JavaScript lets web programmers control elements of the page. For example, a page that uses JavaScript might show the current date and time or cause a linked page to appear in a new pop-up page." From Safari web settings on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Some of the old terminology is not as snazzy sounding as Web 2.0, Drupal and Apps. However it is what it is.

Thank you all. BoB, Java script is on, do I leave or turn off? Cookies say 'only allow on sites I visit.' Not sure if I should just block them totally. I've just been back on the site and it doesn't seem to be doing it anymore. I deleted a bookmark I put on last night which was to a diet advice site and I'll just stick to my fitness app. In fact, just as I did last January and then forgot about until this January. 😳

Java is required for many websites to run correctly.
Unless you know what you are doing just leave it alone.
