I'm kind of guessing that if the owner had had Find My Iphone turned on, she wold have been able to track or block it sooner?

By the looks of it, she must've had another device to see the pics appear on iCloud.

I remember the Find My Iphone App, wasn't pre-installed, bu think it now gives you the option to set it up after recent iOs updates?

Thank you for sharing the story 😄

I remember a while back a similar story where a persons iPod touch was stolen ,and as the other person took pictures they uploaded onto the original owners iCloud stream.

The true owner started uploading the pictures on Facebook if I remember ,to show their faces and shame them I suppose !

Yes FindMyiPhone activation is part of the set up process now ,and can only be de activated by the original Apple ID Password. Called activation lock.

There have been a lot of instances of this happening.

I think it can be good to try to help find the devices if they have been stolen.  However sometimes it is a bit of a tease seeing pics of the person who now has your device (whether they took it or not) and not being able to get it back.

I think iCloud may be more helpful than Find My Phone as, in my experience, Find My Phone doesn't find exact areas and it can easily be turned off.

Yes if the finder of the iPhone turns it off then connection is lost , however a new built in toggle feature which will if activated send its last location -> http://www.cnet.com/uk/how-to/find-my-iphone-has-a-new-trick-in-ios-8/

If you try to turn off Find My iPhone (in the iCloud section in Settings) you now have to enter the Apple ID password before it can be switched off.

You can view the photos in your iCloud photostream by going to iCloud.com on a web browser. You can also see your Notes, Calender, Reminders and other things on there too.
