Daft question but does anyone think apple should lease its os to other providers like android does or is this just a pipe dream

Apple takes all its time to rubber stamp apps.

Tim Cook imo would never authorise such a move.

You are suggesting that Apple undo the lock on their OS, that is highly unlikely to happen.

Never going to happen. Just look at OSX. You can't (officially) install that onto any device other than a Mac despite Macs containing pretty much the same hardware you find in PCs these days.
