Should I be able to make phone calls and send multimedia messages from a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+?

I have a Galaxy tab S7+ on O2. I can send text messages fine but I can't make phone calls or send multimedia messages. I got my wife to phone me on my tablet phone number and it comes up as 'number is not valid' on her end, my tablet does nothing. Is this right? When I took the contract out the bloke on the phone said it would behave just like an over sized mobile phone in its capabilities but all I can do is text (SMS) and use the Internet.

@MartynJames

The sim you have is only data and 100 text messages.

It is not capable of phone calls over the mobile network, but you can make and receive WhatsApp or Messenger calls.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

I tried to sign up for WhatsApp but I couldn't receive the message they need to send to register to use the service.

Thanks for the reply.

You should be able to.

You can put the sim in a phone to set it up then transfer it back to the tablet, but you should receive the text on tablet. Check the number is correct.
