SIM not working in my upgraded phone

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello fellow community users.

Upgraded my contract phone a couple of weeks back and was told that the new SIM would work as soon as my old contract ran out. This hasn't happened. Can anyone please tell me what to do? At the moment I have a lovely new phone that I can't use. BTW, I'm keeping the same number.

Cheers in advance!

In that case you need a new sim. If you pop in to your nearest o2 store they will do it all for you.

Hi and welcome to the community

As you are keeping the same number you will need to swap the details to your new sim.

Please go to www.o2.co.uk/swapmysim  and follow the instructions. Note the swap may take up to 24 hours although in my experience it normally happens fairly quickly.

Please let us know how you get on.

Old contracts don't run out, is the old sim still working and is it the same size that fits the new phone?

If so you can use still use it.

Okay Perksie, the old contract ended - semantics methinks and no, my current SIM, which is still working, does not fit in my new phone!

If your old sim is still working and it doesn't fit, and you have a new sim for your new phone you need to swap it. This link was provided to you earlier http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk/

Depending on your phone you will most likely need either a micro sim or a nano sim. As you are posting on Android I guess it will be a micro sim. Either way the store can do the sim swap for you and it is free to do.

Of course you have also mentioned you have a new sim. Is it the right size for your new handset. If so then you just need to do your sim swap as I mentioned earlier

It is not semantics, if your old sim is still working then so is your contract.

You do not close a contract in order to start a new one, O2 send out a new sim if required, but it won't be active.

Use the http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk/ page if you haven't already.

If you did manage to end your old contract in error, you will not be able to keep your old number.
