iOS 12.1 is due anytime now with esim support at firmware level.
esim support is not just for Apple Watch either although still unlikely to be supported by o2.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

IOS 12 was released on September 17, but what would that have to do with the Google Pixel 3?

@anticpated I suppose it's a valid question, but O2 doesn't support the iWatch, and according to this post on Twitter, esim technology will be available some time in the first half of 2019, which is about as vague as O2 could make it. https://twitter.com/o2/status/1039970834041982977?lang=en

Not really a Twitter user so I don't get all the info I need from the main website. Which is a strange predicament to find yourself in.

@anticpated I don't use Twitter either. I found that reply by doing a Google search.
