Hi everyone, hope you're having a lovely day!

Mobile phone operating systems such as Android and iOS offer many built-in accessibility settings and features for people who need help seeing, hearing or otherwise operating their mobile device. These settings can include for example:

  • Zoom / magnifier
  • Display accommodations such as inverted colours and colour filtering, increased contrast
  • Text-to-speech
  • Other text modifying settings such as bolded and larger text
  • Modifications to how the touch screen responds to your touch
  • Support for hearing devices/aids and sound balance adjustment

I'd love to know if anyone here on the community is familiar with these features? Have you used any of these on your mobile phone? Which feature has been the most useful to you? Smiley Happy

Hi @Marjo

I like a bit of helpful tech.

I get my computer to read text to me when I can't be bothered to read, so soothing!

Putting the back-light up and down is essential

Larger text is also very helpful and I use it if I need to

Sound ~ I like it up sometimes and down others

sometimes I wear earbuds  if I am talking to someone and I need to hear everything carefully.

I also use speaker alot on my mobile

I do like the mobile touch screen to be responsive

As you know I am working on my new A70 and are using all these features when I can find them!

Hi @TallTrees cheers for your comments. That's interesting about getting your computer to read out loud to you. I wonder if it could be used for things like ebooks - would it turn it into an audio book experience? thinking

Looking forward to hearing what features you find on the A70. slight_smile

@Jenny105 I remember you mentioned trying out some phones that were very good for people who had trouble hearing, with different features to help with it - I'd love to know if there's any specific feature you use the most, or if you've used any other accessibility settings on mobile phones and what you think of them. slight_smile

Hi @Marjo

I think that would be a wonderful addition with an ebook.

I like the computer reading to me ~ If it is a letter/email I tend to concentrate more.

Audio book experience would be great it is very relaxing to hear a book you can

close your eyes and imagine the scene.

I have always loved the radio dramas.  I can be gardening and carry my "tranny"

with me! and hear the story.

re the Samsung Galaxy A70

Please would you be able to let me use the Drafting Room?

It would help me get it all together. Thank you

I much prefer a book rather than audio. The boring monotonous robotic voicess leave me cold. If I miss something it's much easier to go back a page rather than skip back on audio.
