I have a iPhone 8 on contract which has a year left until I can upgrade but my sister is giving her iPhone 10 to me can I put my contract sim in the iPhone 10 and use that instead or do I need to keep it in my iPhone 8

so I can just keep the iPhone 8 even though I’ve not paid for it? and just use the iPhone 10 and keep paying my contract

But I got the phone off mobile phones direct on an o2 sim and didn’t pay anything for the phone ? Sorry I’m so confused haha
