How come you get a text to say your data has nearly all gone but not your minutes! Why can't o2 put a counter on your minutes so you can keep a check?

Obviously gone over without realising, always been under my minutes, way over this bill, is there any thing I can do on my phone to alert me? Thinking of going back to pay as you go 樂
