I have just ordered an Apple Watch Series 4, so I will stay with O2 until early 2019 when I expect to see eSIM Apple watch progress. If not then bye, bye. Not my ideal option as I like O2 and get good service generally. Good to see some progress and anouncements on the megathread.

I don’t think it will happen myself but could be pleasantly surprised

Well it never happened with the Apple Watch 3...so I would be amazed @Anonymous wink

It remains to be seen but going off O2's track record I think it unlikely.

Just as an aside here, we haven't seen any of posts where people have been waiting for their phones. Only the usual cockups by UK Mail.

Also this thread is only 40 pages long compared to last years 169 pages. Very weird.

So just for my understanding when they say

‘We’re working hard to ensure our customers will be able to use eSIM technology in consumer devices in the first half of 2019’

Does that mean Apple Watch too or just the iPhones?

@Brandinh0 We as customers will have no idea about O2’s plans . Only @Chris_K can answer that but I’m guessing only iPhone’s & that’s the very least as they refused to support the Apple Watch last year & are saying the same line this year

Or maybe it just isn't cost effective as yet. How many people actually own an iPhone and use all of its features. From what I read about esim it's like carrying an embedded SIM on your device.

2019 will ve the year of 5g and foldable polymer screens. I'm more excited about that.
