16/9, 15:10 - A few detals have been added to the page

17/9, 10:30 - Added a few more Q&As

17/9, 16:15 - Added some more questions & their answers

Q: Where’s the best place to find the latest info about the iPhone 5 on O2?

A: Check out http://j.mp/iPhone5O2 for all the latest information.

Q: How much does iPhone 5 cost?

A: You can have a look at our tariffs and prices for iPhone 5 at http://j.mp/iPhone5O2

Q: Will you be taking pre-orders for the iPhone 5?

A: Yes, you can pre-order iPhone 5 on O2 but stock is limited, so be quick.

Q: When will my iPhone 5 pre-order be delivered?

A: If we get your pre-order before 4pm the day before launch, we’ll get it to you on launch day. The only exception to this will be those customers with an address in the Highlands and Islands.

Q: Which tariffs will the iPhone 5 be available on if I grab one from a store?

A: The iPhone 5 will be available on our On & On 24-months tariff as well as the £63 per month tariff over 24 months.

Q: Is it available on 12 or 18 month tariffs?

A: the iPhone 5 is only available on 24 month tariffs.

Q: I’m at the end of my 12 month Simplicity contract.  Can I upgrade to iPhone 5 online?

A: Yes,  if you are at the end of your contract, you can upgrade to iPhone 5 with online pre-order or on launch day as long as we have the phone in stock.

Q: I’m on 12 month Simplicity but still in contract.  Can I upgrade early and get iPhone 5?

A: If you signed up to the special offer £20 a month On & On Simplicity, you’ll need to wait until after 6 months. All other Simplicity customers still in contract will need to go to an O2 retail shop on launch day, Friday 21 September. You will not be able to upgrade online.

Q: I’m on 30 day Simplicity.  Can I upgrade to iPhone 5 online?

A: If you’ve been with us for 6 months or longer, yes, you can upgrade with online pre-order as long as we have the phone in stock. Head over to o2.co.uk/upgrade

Q: What if I’ve been with O2 for less than 6 months on a Simplicity tariff?  Can I get iPhone 5?

A: It depends on the result of your last credit check. If you don’t see the option to pre-order via o2.co.uk/upgrade give us a call.

Q: Why are your Retail store iPhone 5 prices different to your Online/Telesales prices?

A: When you buy iPhone from O2’s website or through our call centres you will be buying it from Carphone Warehouse (O2 will be acting as an agent for Carphone Warehouse).  Carphone Warehouse set their own price for the iPhones we sell on their behalf, so prices may be different when compared to O2 Retail stores.

Q: Is the iPhone 5 available on Pay & Go?

A: Yes – you’ll be able to buy iPhone 5 from O2 on launch day.

Q: Is there a Fast Track Upgrade option available for existing customers?

A: Existing customers can pay to end their contract early, however the cost will vary depending on your contract. Call us to discuss this further.

Q: How do I find out if I’m eligible for an upgrade?

A: Pay Monthly customers can upgrade early depending on their tariff. Find out your upgrade date by texting UPGRADE to 21602. Or check on MyO2 or the My O2 app on your smartphone.

Q: How do I get a nano sim?

A: One will come with the iPhone when you get it from O2 – if you’re buying from elsewhere you’ll be able to get one from us from Monday afternoon (17th September).

Q: What if I get an iPhone 5 from somewhere else? How do I get a nano sim?

A: You’ll need to pick a nano sim up from one of our stores from Monday afternoon (17th September).Remember – you won’t need to do this if you’re getting your iPhone 5 from O2 – we’ll supply a nano sim with it automatically.

Q: Can I buy iPhone 5 on O2, unlock it and use it on another network?

if you check http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone/compare
youll see the new iphone5 does indeed use a nano sim.
I have been trying to find out myself if O2 will swap my micro sim to a nano if i buy a sim free iphone5 but as usual O2 are so slow in releasing any information that no one seems to know

Except the govt. auction will not be for the band frequencies that the iPhone 5 uses - so O2  won't be able to offer LTE (4G) see here Apple's iPhone 5 Has Limited UK 4G Support, Freezing Out Vodafone & O2 And 3 benefit from EEs network sell off plus offer unlimited data - I have enjoyed being w o2 since the original iphone (now on 3gs) but am seriously considering a PAC code...

If the statement that 4G will never be coming to the iPhone 5 on any other network than EE is true, due to compatibility, then it's yet another blow to O2...

I'm sensing champagne corks popping at EE HQ and the Marketing Department rubbing their hands with glee..

..doesn't seem fair, really..

I'm on iPhone 4S (had it the day they came out) and wanted to know if they'll be the opportunity for an early upgrade for Apple addicts...

If my memory serves me correctly. When the iPhone 4 came out, people who had purchased their iPhone 4 from Apple, had to go to the O2 shop with their iPhone 4 and their invoice that they got with their iPhone 4 to prove that they had got an iPhone 4. I could be wrong though has its a couple of years ago now.

I expect in the coming days that they will be a post/sticky on here telling us the procedure for getting a nano sim card.

This won't be a problem though for people upgrading in the O2 store has they will be given a nano sim card with their iPhone 5. I can remember when I upgraded to the iPhone 4 from my 3GS, I was given a micro sim card there and then with my iPhone 4.

But after the fiasco I had last year with O2 not allowing me to finish my contract off and start a new one and also the large amount of cash they still wanted for the handset price, I will be again getting my iPhone from Apple again. Guess it will be a trip into town to get a nano sim next Friday Smiley Mad

So, like many I'm a loyal O2 user of about 5 years, I've got an iPhone 4 and am overdue my upgrade.

As everyone's aware the 4G LTE is a big selling point of the iPhone 5 and as our seemingly corrupt Ofcom regulators don't look like they'll ever allow the iPhone frequencies to anyone but EE. (nothing fishy there! ;))

But for the first time since I joined O2, with no problems or issues I might add, I'm now considering leaving as if I'm spending serious money on an upgrade phone & contract I'd like to be able to get my money's worth of the features I'm paying for.

My question to O2 is - what are you going to do to keep customers like me on board? Remembering I'm very satisfied with O2 and don't like switching as it is - many will jump ship with a lot less hesitation. Are you actually going to do anything at all?

Well one feature you'll miss out on if you leave is visual voicemail.  No other network has implemented it and I haven't heard back from EE after I queried them.  I'm not dialing a stupid number to check for messages!

I don't see why - 4G is only going to be available in 16 cities across the UK. And that really means just the city centres. So for me, I'd only get it when i get to work and our office building seems to block mobile signals and i'm lucky to get 1 bar of 3G during the day, but that doesn't matter, as I have faster internet connection on the office pc. So I'd have barely any use for the 4G connection until it's available to the rest of the country.

Here's a good opinion piece on why 4G isn't worth bothering with for the time being:
