UPDATE 24 Sep '20: 5G eSIM has now launched on O2. You'll need a 5G and eSIM compatible device.

O2 is excited to announce that customers can use eSIM technology on the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max, as well as the iPhone XS, XS Max, XR and the Google Pixel 3 and 3XL from 19 September 2019.

O2 customers need only pop into their local store or call customer services to request a new eSIM pack. You can then download an eSIM profile and swap your current plastic SIM card over to your new eSIM profile following the normal SIM swap process.

Customers will still have the option to use a traditional plastic SIM card should they wish.

We have a dedicated eSIM help & support page here, with many Q&A's.

The only smart watches that o2 currently support for calling are the Apple ones, and a couple of Samsung Galaxy watches.
We ask about updates but they are few and far between...

Please note, this is not customer services and we cannot access your account. Do not publish personal details (email, phone number, bank account).

Link to our guide on how to contact them can be found here

@Gege_744

You need to contact O2.
All numbers are in this guide Guide: Coronavirus Community Help and Support
When you call, you will be asked for the reason you are calling.
Stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.
Press 2 for Everything Else
Press 5 for More Options
Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to someone.
You can also try saying "Upgrade" or "Fraud" to be connected to an advisor.
8.00am is the best time to call if you can.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

O2 wrote as early as 2nd February 2020:

"We’re not currently offering eSIM to our Pay As You Go customers. We’re working on this and it won’t be long before we can offer eSIMs to all our customers with compatible phones."

It's now 18 months later, and PAYG customers still can't get an eSIM, contradicting the above promise "it won't be long". Why the broken promise?

@NFH

I think its as simple as there is no appetite for one across consumers, as most people with PAYG dont have phones that support esim.... (yes people have iPhone's and Motorola's that support it but thats the minority)

Or they can do what EE do to anyone who wants an e-sim you pay for it I think on EE its 50p per esim download...

- Xperia 1V - o2 and Spusu
- Pixel 8 Pro - o2 and Vodafone UK

That doesn't explain why O2 promised eSIM for PAYG in February 2020, then failed to deliver, and is still promising "We’re not currently offering esim to our Pay As You Go customers, but we’re working on being able to offer esims to anyone with a compatible phone as soon as possible".

If your theory was correct, then O2 would not have promised eSIM for PAYG in February 2020 and would not be continuing to promise it now. Therefore I don't think your theory is plausible.

Absolutely crazy that in 2022 you either have to go into a store or have an eSIM delivered to your home address. It is honestly absurd that the QR code for digital SIM card can't be emailed out to you.
