Hey everyone,

Unless you're very new to the community you've likely noticed a few changes to how the forum looks this morning. As we announced yesterday the O2 community has been upgraded! In addition to the new look there are several new features, some requested and a few new ones for good measure. 😄

New home page

Starting at the top we have a new integrated header for the community. The new header contains some useful links. On the left side you have a link to the main O2 site.

MartinO2_1-1628153484207.png

You then have links to the O2 shop page > O2 help and support page > My O2 and your shop basket.

MartinO2_2-1628153484206.png

On the right of these links you will see your community notifications > private messages and your profile picture.

MartinO2_3-1628153484210.png

Clicking on your profile picture will bring up a drop down menu which contains the following...

MartinO2_4-1628153485084.png

Directly below the header you will find the new community navigation! The community categories are listed here and if you hover over you will see a drop down of the different boards.

MartinO2_6-1628153484211.png

The next level down is the community search bar and your latests stats and notifications!

MartinO2_7-1628153484435.png

Below this is our new featured content widget. This is similar to Latest News section on the old home page but is in a much more prominent place than before.

Next is the new trending topics section which is a live feed of the most popular conversations happening in real time!

MartinO2_8-1628153484465.png

Below to trending topics you will see the familiar Community Activity where you can see the latest topics and filter them by most recent > most viewed > most commented and most liked.

MartinO2_9-1628153485460.png

Down at the bottom of the home page you will see a feed that highlights the most recent guides and reviews. If you hit the View All button it will take you to the guides and reviews category.

Finally the familiar community stats can be found at the very bottom of the page.

New private messaging interface

We also have a brand new private message system which will display your message conversations in a threaded view so no more going back and forth between your inbox and outbox. Please note: Only messages exchanged after the upgrade goes live will be in the threaded view.

Solution highlight

The next new feature to talk about is floated solutions. When a solution is picked on a thread it will be highlighted at the top of the discussion for easy viewing. The solution will still be in it's proper position down the chain of messages.

MartinO2_13-1628153484565.png

The new version has an updated text editor box for topics, replies and private messages.

@Cleoriff - that red line spell check is a FF Desktop feature, and I believe you can adjust the dictionary used in your browser:

Hopefully more legible 👍

@pgn

Having seen your post to @Cleoriff about red line spell check, I tried adjusting settings for Chrome, which I use on laptop.

Did a test - colour [UK English] and color [US English] neither have red line spell check... Confused...

I'm quite happy with the red wavy line @pgn. It catches the eye. Now my settings are UK English anyway so I think Khoros being a US 'invention' is the reason it throws up US spelling. It's the forum settings which need changing? FF used on any other site (except FB..Another US site) always allows UK English.

Chrome is a different beast from FF (Firefox), @Mi-Amigo - I have not played with its settings lately wrt Language and Dictionary. Will get a look at it later.

Slaving away on Edge here atm - you think the others are weird .. but at least alt-tab treats Edge Tabs as separate apps, unlike FF or Chrome 😎😉

Hey @pgn@Cleoriff@Mi-Amigo I've provided an update on the issues you've mentioned below. 🙂 If you have any questions please do let me know.

On the video imbedding on mobile this is not technically broken. The mobile view text editor has reduced functionality to avoid it being overly cluttered when on a small screen. Several features available on desktop are not included and the video imbedding is one of those. This may well be added in a future update but is not currently available.

Own posts in unread posts list and the link not taking you to the most recent posts are both being investigated. It looks like they are bugs which generally take a bit longer to get resolved as they are affecting multiple communities so will be fixed in a general update and not ad hoc for our specific community. We've not forgotten about them and I'll update you as soon as there is news or an ETA on the fix.

Adding older emojis is within the community managers control and I will address this ASAP however some other tasks have taken priority on over getting this done.

For the spell checker I'm calling it now! Let's stick with the current version. I much prefer it as I think most others do. It's using your browser spell checker so that needs to be set to UK. 😉

With copy/pasting the star emojis I can replicate this and can certainly raise this as an issue. In the short term you can click on the emoji and select the left arrow box which will reduce it to the usual size. That should speed things up a bit.

Whilst these outstanding issues are frustrating we will get them resolved ASAP and as I said in an earlier post on this thread the new community is a massive improvement overall on the previous version and it's unlocked a ton of new features and customisation that will only benefit the community moving forward.

Thanks for that update @Martin-O2. Pleased to hear about the spellcheck remaining as it is, and that you will be looking to add the emoji's we asked for.

Patience is required I guess for the unread post issue and the last post on existing topics. Tick Tock  😂

@Martin-O2  I had an issue this morning which I am positive is related to My O2.

I logged on to community and answered a few questions. All ok. (This is on my PC using Firefox)

I then moved to My O2 as I wanted to check some of the functions... I looked in personal details which requires a text sent to my phone. Once I had checked things I then attempted to post on community from 4 tabs I had open. I had the error message on all of them and was unable to post. Had to close down and log on to community again. All was back to normal. So I thought it was related to My O2.

I HAVE JUST CONFIRMED THIS:

I recreated what happened this morning ie 'rinse and repeat' from above. Logged on to Community, after 15 mins then logged into My O2. Had text sent to phone and looked in Personal details. I then attempted to pot on the forum tabs I had open and guess what? I had the error message 'Null Error 500'.

I have had close the PC down and then log back on to write this post

Conclusion: Logging into My O2 and having text sent to phone, effectively causes an error on community tabs when you want to post again.

Windows 10 PC using Firefox.

Same with Chrome as reported by myself and @gmarkj previously.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

@Cleoriff It's odd that you have to restart the PC, signing out of MYO2/Community and then restarting the browser and signing back in is effectively the same as restarting the PC. The 500 error is an O2 server error and not your PC.

Exactly @Anonymous ...but tbh this has been going on for some time, even before the new forum layout. I didn't get an error message before, I was just sent to the community sign in page. As @MI5 said, it has been reported before.

This time I had to log out of the community by closing down, then rebooting the PC. (Purely because I only had community tabs open. Nothing else.)

As said, it only happens when I access My O2 from the Community.
