O2 and LIDA unveil ground-breaking SMS campaign
- Research claims customers prefer reading text messages upside down -
O2 and direct and digital marketing agency, LIDA, have today announced findings from their latest customer survey which shows more and more customers are checking their phones upside down.
In response to the research, from 9am on 1st April, every customer update that O2 users receive by text will be delivered in an upside-down format. The messages are set to be rolled out to its 2.8 million customers across the nation and will be leveraged across the brand’s social channels. The first update, believed to be the world’s first branded upside-down SMS, will read:
“Research shows more and more of you are checking your phones upside down. So from now on, every one of our messages can be read your way up. Very handy, we hope you agree. “
Jonathan Goodman, Managing Director of LIDA, commented: “LIDA and O2 pride ourselves on putting our customers at the heart of our business, so when our research revealed the rise in upside-down phone usage we knew we had to respond. Our teams have been working hard to overcome various technical challenges around how the copy looks on different handsets and think our new style of messaging will really be a hit with customers.”
Here's how our new texts will look starting from today:
What you guys think of our news? Not a fan of upside down texts, prefer to read them right way up?
