Hey everyone,

There was an interesting article posted on The Blue last week. The article discusses a recent report by Center for Cities which was supported by O2 and provides several recommendations for local and national governments that will help with the smooth rollout of 5G across the UK and making the best use of existing infrastructure.

Making the most of existing digital connections:

  • The Government should deliver on its promise to devolve responsibility for the Adult Education Budget to cities.
  • Cities should embrace the opportunities that existing digital technology offers to better manage services.

Delivering new digital infrastructure in the coming years:

  • The Government’s new National Planning Policy Framework should require all new housing developments to include the provision of high-quality digital infrastructure – mobile and fixed.
  • National leaders should review the Electronic Communications Code (ECC) after 12 months, to ensure it does not deter investment in digital infrastructure.

Have a read of the full report if your interested and let us know what you think of the suggested actions below!

It seems city centric and will require a lot of fibre optic technology to get right. I've spent some time on london recently and can see it taken a while to implement. Never mind no device is 5g capableas far as i know.

It looks like apple might be one of the first to implement 5g modems with a partnership with qualcomm. Although that could be speculation.

The idea of higher bandwidth through shorter connections and fibre optics is certainly great for future technology needs.
