Hey all,
Did anyone watch the live stream today and if so, what did you think? You're wowed, right?! I was! Check out some of the juicy specs, features and info I've updated here.
My hands-on experience
Now, before I post any photos I just wanted to give some quick words around my hands-on experience with the device... To me, it feels like an evolution of the S7 edge and brings with it a lot of subtle changes which all add up to create, what I believe, is one of the best smartphones out there right now.
The display, design & build
The screen on the Note7 is gorgeous, and it's something all Note's have shared, but this one needs to be seen in the flesh to truly appreciate it. The HDR compatibility is no gimmick - photos look amazing, videos look incredible, and games look jaw-droppingly gorgeous. Though I have an S7 edge that shares the same waterproof rating as the Note7, I'd never willingly put it into a tank of water but from being able to give the Note7 a dunking without breaking a sweat, it's good to know that if it gets a bit wet, it's all going to be fine.
The iris scanner
I spent a solid 10min or so with a Samsung rep who told me all about the iris scanner and it really does sound like the perfect security for your device. It uses safe infra red to scan the patterns of your iris and as iris scanning leaves no physical marks on your device (think fingerprints, on the sensor or display) and no two iris' are the same, even on the same person, it's one of the ultimate modes of security available on the Note7. And it truly does work - it's even faster than fingerprint login from my hands-on experience.
If you'd like to know more about my thoughts or hands-on on any other features, just let me know and I'd be glad to share with you.
Here's some photos I snapped from the event
The main hall - all very nice and clean!
Hello, Galaxy
As soon as I saw the Gear VR on everyones chair, I knew we'd be treated to some VR experiences
Everyone on their mobiles, checking in on Facebook, tweeting, snapping and whatsapping
The first view we got of the Note7
The new and improved S Pen is fully waterproof and has a thinner nib for more precise & natural note-taking and drawing
The first ever Note to be waterproof. Trust me, they weren't kidding - more photos on this soon!
The rumoured iris scanner turned out to be true, and could just be the ultimate form of mobile security
Finally, a close-up - oh, it's so beautiful
More beauty, just look at that big screen and S Pen combo
The Note7 (left) with my own S7 edge beside it (right). The curves has very subtle differences and makes the Note7 feel larger, without any added bulk
Fully waterproof - see, we weren't kidding!
I took great pleasure in dunking this in the water over and over, always in amazement when it continued to work. I'm sure I heard it say "water you afraid of?" at one point
