TU Go is closing 30th November

Hey all,

We see some of you have already spotted this but we wanted to confirm that the TU Go app & service will be ending on 30th November. We’ll be notifying all customers that have the TU Go app about this from today, Tuesday 17th October, through to Friday 20th October.

While TU Go is ending, we’re continuing to offer alternative calling options for our customers. More information can be found here. As VoWifi (Voice over Wifi, part of our Wifi and 4G calling capabilities) continues to develop, we’re working with our vendors to expand the selection of handsets that we offer with Wifi and 4G calling capabilities. A full list of currently supported devices can be found here, where we will also add future devices when they’re available.

If the device you’re currently using doesn’t support Wifi and 4G calling, you can check the My O2 app or get in touch with our customer service team (202 from an O2 Pay Monthly mobile, 8002 from O2 Business mobile) to see what upgrade options are available to you.

We recommend that all TU Go users make copies of any stored messages or images that they have saved on the TU Go app, as the app won’t be accessible from 1 December.

We know that some of our O2 Community members helped test the TU Go app during beta trials and provided varied and fantastic feedback which helped our team shape the app, add new features and fix any bugs. We hope you’ve enjoyed using TU Go, and again want to thank anyone from the O2 Community that helped us.

New app will not have my 3 years of calls and texts that I nearly weekly use to look back and find info from. I changed phones 3 times and never saved messages and calls as they were all nicely together in this app. And the app is the only reason why I have stayed with O2 paying over the odds compared to other Companies.

Yes it was a suggestion made some time back I think...Many of us were willing to pay for it as a bolt on....Smiley Frustrated

I called in to my local O2 shop this week; I was told that there is a new app in the pipeline - due to be released ‘sometime next year’ - but the man I spoke to didn’t know which features it will share with TuGo. He has heard rumours about it from O2 and from a customer who has been invited by O2 to test a beta version of it.

If this is true and there are some months in between TuGo stopping and this new app starting, I suspect it won’t emulate TuGo too closely otherwise they’d have it ready to go now.

I’m not too optimistic - but time will tell.

I wonder if anyone at O2 reads these comments. Just in case: congratulations on annoying so many of your customers.

Without any solid proof I'll just consider it a ploy to try and stop people leaving - how long is long enough to hang on waiting?
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

All hearsay and rumours. Simple fact is they want money and any app would only apply to the UK.

What we need to partially solve at least the "no signal at home"  is a signal booster that uses WiFi. Reading my news feed from pocketnow magazine, T-mobile in the USA has this. I guess that  would be EE over here, but I've not found such a thing on their Web  store . Besides, it still doesn't cover connecting up via hotspot  WiFi, though at a pinch you could take it with you are away on holiday.
