Hey all,

We see some of you have already spotted this but we wanted to confirm that the TU Go app & service will be ending on 30th November. We’ll be notifying all customers that have the TU Go app about this from today, Tuesday 17th October, through to Friday 20th October.

While TU Go is ending, we’re continuing to offer alternative calling options for our customers. More information can be found here. As VoWifi (Voice over Wifi, part of our Wifi and 4G calling capabilities) continues to develop, we’re working with our vendors to expand the selection of handsets that we offer with Wifi and 4G calling capabilities. A full list of currently supported devices can be found here, where we will also add future devices when they’re available.

If the device you’re currently using doesn’t support Wifi and 4G calling, you can check the My O2 app or get in touch with our customer service team (202 from an O2 Pay Monthly mobile, 8002 from O2 Business mobile) to see what upgrade options are available to you.

We recommend that all TU Go users make copies of any stored messages or images that they have saved on the TU Go app, as the app won’t be accessible from 1 December.

A thank you
We know that some of our O2 Community members helped test the TU Go app during beta trials and provided varied and fantastic feedback which helped our team shape the app, add new features and fix any bugs. We hope you’ve enjoyed using TU Go, and again want to thank anyone from the O2 Community that helped us.

More information on the closure of TU Go can be found here: https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/tu-go

For all if you needing an alternative, and are able to change providers, 3 have a similar app. It's called 3 InTouch and allows calls and texts via wifi. My wife has been using it at home for a while and it seems to be as reliable as Tugo is/was.

3s cheapest sim only deal is £5/month

Thank you for that ☺️

Good to hear @Anonymous. Have you any idea if this app can be used abroad?

I suppose WhatsApp, Skype, Google (Duo?) and other offerings fill the void left by TuGo. Good riddance, I say.

Actually, no.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Those apps have their limitations. One shoe does not fit all but TU actually doesnt have any limitations for what I use it for. Definitely not good riddance!

This should not have happened & what will customers who use the app for texting do now?

I've had a look and there is no way I can forward myself all the messages. I've been using the tu go app over 3 years and have changed phone a couple of times but using app still able to retrieve messages. Really disappointed in o2's decision to close the app, surely they could keep it for the people that benefit from the text function. Many a time I don't receive an sms but it comes through in the app. Really going to miss this app.

What is the simplest way to save TuGo messages before the TuGo service closes?

The only way, as said above, is to forward them back to yourself so they are stored in your phones sms app.

Like many others here I find it impossible to believe that O2 haven't thought about this.... WiFi calling without text is not a replacement for TuGo... I have three SIM only contracts as no signal whatsoever at home. At least wait for WiFi calling to support text.... I am waiting for an O2 Manager to call me back to discuss my complaint.

Its looking like either moving to EE with WiFi calling and Text or 3 with their TuGo type app.

TuGo on Tablets and my PC, what a differentiator  between providers...

Has Michael O'Leary moved from Ryanair? -

On a note for all you people in contract, many years ago BT removed their fusion service which we used because of no signal. I was in contract and they agreed to waive the contract as they had removed the service I relied on and my phone was made useless at home. Not sure what legal situation is.

Good luck!
