Hi everyone,

Today is Safer Internet Day!

The aim of Safer Internet Day is to inspire a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively. Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, the celebration sees hundreds of organisations get involved to help promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.

Together with NSPCC we are committed to keeping kids safe online through our O2 NSPCC partnership. In 2018 over 2 million parents took steps with O2 to keep their kids safe online. You can read more about online child safety by visit the O2 and NSPCC website

If you have an Amazon Echo, you can even join in on a fun quiz this week and discover who knows more about the world online: ask ‘Alexa, play Parents vs Kids’ or visit our website to find out more and show your support for Safer Internet Day this week.

Do you have any questions around how to keep your children safe online? Any tips or tools you've used or spotted on the O2 and NSPCC website as a parent and would like to share?

Looking forward to your comments! slight_smile

Your link 'visit our website' is throwing up an invalid parameters fault?

Having a daughter that is going to start using the internet more, this is beginning to be of interest.
The measures that o2 have put in place look good, and what is better is that it breaks it down into pieces so it is easier to read and digest.
I think there some things that I need to get to grips with sooner rather than later...

@gmarkj How old is your daughter, if you don't mind me asking? There's definitely a lot of information and advice available on the O2 and NSPCC website, worth reading through when you have the time.

There's also a newsletter you can subscribe that discusses different themes around online child safety, I find it quite interesting!

She will be 7 in June, and already has homework to do online. This is on learning websites that the school has links to (or subscribed to).

Oh wow @gmarkj, that's quite young to be using the Internet for homework regularly! I'm curious, is it for all subjects or some specific ones (i.e. science, maths, etc.)?

Let us know if you spot anything on the website or elsewhere that you think will be useful or you, or if you have any questions for O2 around what they do with NSPCC. smiling

There are 4 sites that the school register pupils to.
2 are maths and 2 are spelling/English.
They are good as they are full of bright colours and make the topics as fun as they can. My daughter enjoys doing them so they must be doing something right!
