Hey everybody,

With our previous commitment to rolling out 4G in more-and-more locations, coupled with our recent spectrum acquisition and rapid roll-out of it, we're going to use this thread to announce new locations where 4G has gone live so you can keep up-to-date on the latest roll-out news. We'll update this thread each week (usually Fridays) with new location announcements.

This weeks announcement?
Rollout continues throughout December, though no locations have been announced on Social Media. We'll look to start these up again in early 2019.

Previous announcements

December

More info
Though our 4G rollouts continued in December, we've not made any location announcements via Social Media. After our network outage in early December, our sole focus was in getting our network back up and running for all customers, and then monitoring our network closely to ensure maximum performance and reliability.

We'll work on new plans to announce locations early in the new year. See you then!

Other locations:
As we have over 17,000 locations across the UK with 4G coverage, it's not feasible to list them all in this thread. We've included new locations we've 'switched on' since the start of 2018, and will update this list weekly.

Coverage: If you'd like to check coverage levels in other locations not mentioned in this thread, you can use our coverage checker here. If you're in a location that doesn't yet have 4G, we are bringing 4G to more and more locations - so we hope you'll see the benefit of our network & spectrum investments in the near future.

Network issues: Unfortunately unforeseen faults and issues can happen, but when they do, our network teams look to resolve these as a priority for our customers. If you're experiencing issues where you normally have good coverage and signal, you can check service status updates here. You can also check out our self help guide here which may help resolve your issue, and we have a video here that may help you resolve any issues you may have.

Depends exactly where in the North you are, broadly speaking it's Vodafone to the western half of the country and o2 to the eastern half, with a few exceptions (such as Scotland being mostly an o2 area).

That's for o2 and Vodafone to negotiate and discuss in their infrastructure sharing agreement! As with commercial based contracts, we'll probably hear nothing about it until it happens and neither o2 or VF will divulge to non-staff any details. Worth noting though, where project Beacon has been "unwound" across various bits of London it has helped massively for both networks.

Things should still improve though across the rest of the country. o2 run areas such as Brighton and VF run areas such as Liverpool have both recently gained new spectrum from 3G/2G refarming (2100MHz and 1800MHz networks that were either 3G or 2G now being used for 4G), so hopefully it'll only be a matter of time before this ends up making its way a bit further out of the city centre and as far as where you are in St Helens.

4G signal is useless without capacity. If I had a penny for every time I did a speed test and got below 2Mbps I'd be rich.

There were countless times during the world cup that I couldn't even watch BBC iPlayer it ITV Hub for the match!
