After the recent earthquake in Nepal, we want to do all we can to help support our customers needing to call to or from Nepal. We hope this helps those affected to keep in touch with friends and family without worrying about the cost of any calls.

From Wednesday 29th April until Tuesday 5th May, our customers can call a Nepalese landline or mobile number for free. For any customer who has made calls since the tragic event, we are arranging for their account to be credited with the cost of calls they have made since Saturday 25th April – this will show as a credit on your next bill, you don’t need to contact us to get this applied as we’ll do this from our end for you.

For any of our customers who are visiting Nepal, we will also apply credits for calls made from the country between Saturday 25th April and Tuesday 5th May.

O2 customers are able to contact The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) helpline number 0207 008 0000 for free from the UK or abroad. We’re also supporting the DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee) Appeal and 100% of the donation will be passed to the disaster fund. O2 customers can donate £5 when they text the word ‘Nepal’ to 70000.

Update – 12th May
As there has been another earthquake in Nepal early this morning, we have decided to refund all calls to Nepal from today (12th May) till the 26th May for everyone using our O2 World Chat app.  Calls will be charged at 1p per minute, however we’ll refund the charges by the end of this month.

You don’t have to be an O2 customer to download or use the O2 World Chat app – anyone from the UK can use it. More details here: http://www.o2.co.uk/apps/world-chat

We’ll also continue to support the DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee) Appeal and 100% of the donation will be passed to the disaster fund. O2 customers can donate £5 when they text the word ‘Nepal’ to 70000.

It's terrible so many affected time and time again, they're saying 10 years to sort this out.

Here's a very good charity helping with housing problems: http://www.shelterbox.org/

They can re-house a family for £230 with weatherproof equipment.

To support Disasters Emergency Committee: http://www.dec.org.uk/appeals text Nepal to 70000 to send £5
