Evening folks,

Sorry we couldn't mention anything before hand but tonight we were invited along to a certain little Google announcement from the heart of London. Lets just cut straight to the chase, shall we?

They're coming, and they're coming to O2... Presenting the freshly announced Nexus 5X (made by LG) and Nexus 6P (made by Huawei)

Nexus 5X.jpgNexus 6P.jpg

Nexus 5X

CPU: Snapdragon 808 1.8GHz
MEM: 2GB RAM, 16/32GB Internal storage
DISPLAY: 5.2", 1080 x 1920 resolution (~423 ppi pixel density)
CAMERA: 12.3MP back / 5MP front
BATTERY: 2,700mAh

Nexus 6P
CPU: Snapdragon 810 2GHz
MEM: 3GB RAM, 32/64/128GB Internal storage
DISPLAY: 5.7", 2560 x 1440 resolution (518 ppi pixel density)
CAMERA: 12.3MP back / 8MP front
BATTERY: 3,450mAh

FEATURES
- "Nexus Imprint" Fingerprint sensor
- Android 6.0 Marshmallow
- Type-C USB (reversible connector, yay!)
- 4k video recording capability
- Slow motion video capture

I was incredibly lucky to be invited to this event on behalf of O2 and while we'd always love to be able to take our community users with us, it's just not possible. Instead, we'd like to share some photos we captured of the announcement and hope it gives you a bit of a unique insight into what some of these handset announcements are like in person.

Hands on experience
As you can see from the photos below, I also secured some demos of the handsets and there's a couple of things I wanted to mention. The fingerprint scanner is very fast and you can set up multiple fingerprint entries, just in case like me you your phone swaps hands every two minutes. Both screens are incredibly sharp and bright, and the colours are great. I experienced a completely lag free Android system - apps loaded instantly, menus were smooth - everything just worked right away. The cameras seem to be a fantastic quality and the photos taken in relatively low-light looked fantastic - the laser auto-focus was also extremely fast, as is booting up the camera itself - in the blink of an eye.

I'm really impressed with the look and feel of both handsets and I do believe both LG and Huawei and given both devices their absolute all.

Liking the looks of these new Nexus devices? Prefer the 'pure Android experience' over others? Like any of the photos we've snapped for you?

To be honest a free chromecast dongle wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, tariffs, contract options and personal requirements should be thought about first. We all like something free but you are then tied in for 2 years with no upgrade options.

Tweeted O2 and got a confirmation that they are only doing the 32GB version 😞

Looks like its time to move on (unless nobody else is doing the 128GB model either)

I saw, but I'd already tweeted O2 and decided to add that fact here too as people like multiple sources of the info.

Looking like O2 are sadly going to lose me as a customer this year (unless none of the other networks are oding the phone and I am forced to buy it sim free).

Thanks....

If O2 really are not going to have the 6P 64GB version upon release, then I am going to have to look elsewhere. My upgrade is due next month as well, but I do not want any less than 64GB at present. Maybe there is a reason they and Carphone Warehouse are only showing / planning 32GB, maybe there is somewhere else that has the exclusive rights to 64GB....

I am looking at Google Play to get my Nexus 6P.

Maybe that Google aren't releasing the higher capacity devices immediately ?
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
