Evening folks,
Sorry we couldn't mention anything before hand but tonight we were invited along to a certain little Google announcement from the heart of London. Lets just cut straight to the chase, shall we?
They're coming, and they're coming to O2... Presenting the freshly announced Nexus 5X (made by LG) and Nexus 6P (made by Huawei)

BATTERY: 2,700mAh
Nexus 6P
CPU: Snapdragon 810 2GHz

DISPLAY: 5.7", 2560 x 1440 resolution (518 ppi pixel density)
CAMERA: 12.3MP back / 8MP front
BATTERY: 3,450mAh
FEATURES
- "Nexus Imprint" Fingerprint sensor
- Android 6.0 Marshmallow
- Type-C USB (reversible connector, yay!)
- 4k video recording capability
- Slow motion video capture
I was incredibly lucky to be invited to this event on behalf of O2 and while we'd always love to be able to take our community users with us, it's just not possible. Instead, we'd like to share some photos we captured of the announcement and hope it gives you a bit of a unique insight into what some of these handset announcements are like in person.
Hands on experience
As you can see from the photos below, I also secured some demos of the handsets and there's a couple of things I wanted to mention. The fingerprint scanner is very fast and you can set up multiple fingerprint entries, just in case like me you your phone swaps hands every two minutes. Both screens are incredibly sharp and bright, and the colours are great. I experienced a completely lag free Android system - apps loaded instantly, menus were smooth - everything just worked right away. The cameras seem to be a fantastic quality and the photos taken in relatively low-light looked fantastic - the laser auto-focus was also extremely fast, as is booting up the camera itself - in the blink of an eye.
I'm really impressed with the look and feel of both handsets and I do believe both LG and Huawei and given both devices their absolute all.

Liking the looks of these new Nexus devices? Prefer the 'pure Android experience' over others? Like any of the photos we've snapped for you?

We don't have an exact date yet, nor if there will be pre-orders but I will update this thread as soon as I find out, or hopefully someone else will point out any coming soon pages if it's online before I can update everyone.
For anyone interested I've added more photos I took from the event as well as a quick hands-on experience I had with both devices.
Being in the market for a new upgrade... My eye is looking at the Nexus 6P!

There is a mistake under 'features', It says wireless charging. Neither of these devices have wireless charging. However they do have fast charging by USB-C.

True. They were originally supposed to have this feature...but then it was withdrawn according to this article
Maybe @Chris_K needs to amend the post...?

Cheers for spotting Craig! There appears to have been a little bit of confusion between a couple of demonstrators - I've amended now.

According to this page on the O2 site there is only one capacity and one color available: https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/phones/nexus/6p/
Can anyone confirm if this is the case or not? Not so bothered by the single colour option but I want the 128GB capacity version.
Cheers,
Neil

By the by on the Nexus 5X listing there it appears to list SD Card support which I believe is also incorrect.
