In those days I was using vhf and uhf radio for voice early data (packet radio) and even tv broadcasting and on one of my dual band handsets 144 MHz / 432 MHz full duplex conversations back in the days before hand held mobile phone but with 2 hours battery life lol who remembers the Tomorrow’s world programme . Now all the things we did on amateur radio we now can do over the www and on our mobile phones.

@Glory1 you mentioned JAG - do you mean the navy lawyer show (one of my old favourites) with Harm & Mac?
Yes, @Marjo I do mean the navy lawyer show with Harm and Mac. It's one of my favourites too. I have all 10 series and love it particularly because it combines the law and policing in a way, both favourites of mine.
And don't forget the romance(s)!
Mmmm..... yes the romsnces but the law and the tension between JAG and NCIS interested me more. Also seeing one of the actors appearing as a difficult older teenager in JAG and then a rookie agent in NCIS. He's a regular in NCIS now.

@Marjo @Martin-O2 My move to somerset was all job related .
Employment wise i did 16 years retail (food) many jobs and disciplines i was made redundant and went in to IT for a business continuity user forum (during 9/11) . After 2 years of that my stepfathers medical instrument repair business needed to relocate to larger business premises, so Hampshire was to expensive . My stepfathers hobby was flying light aircraft and had found a plot of land near EGHS (HENSTRIDGE) airfield so we all relocated to somerset building a purpose built workshop and 5 bed chalet bungalow . A lot of the regulars will know this .
Unfortunately Nhs pressures etc made the business after 35 + years unsustainable so my step dad retired and closed the business i then started my current job as a 7.5T driver loader for the contractor that collects recycling in my part of the world south somerset district council .
Hope that fills in a few more blanks etc

The local field here is EGAE.
Unless the pilot miscounted, and ends up in one of the old military strips, like this one...

@adamtemp64 It's a shame the business couldn't continue but it must be nice to be living close to the coast!
