Cannot read or send text messages today. Messenger keeps crashing and cutting out. Tried rebooting, updates, resetting nothing works. Can you help please.

You say text and messenger or just one of them?

Go into app manager and clear cache and data.

Can you uninstall updates and allow the app to update again.

It should say uninstall updates instead of having a delete option, as it's a system app and cannot be deleted.

Thank you all. Found that google update was corrupted, removed it. Everything back to normal.
