My phone has stopped picking up any signal other than wifi, I'm on a contract which is paid and up to date.

Yep done that it's fine, it doesn't work anywhere I travel either?  No phone signal and no roaming internet?

So you need to figure out if it's a phone or sim issue.

If you need a new sim, take some ID into any O2 store and they'll swap you to a new sim.
