iPhone unresponsive and can't switch off

My little boy touched my phone whilst on FaceTime and it seemed to lovk to a blank black screen couldn't end the FaceTime call and it still shows that screen on background apps 

 

now I can't open any icons and can't shut or reset the phone

 

i can scroll but if I touch app to open nothing happens

You need to reset the phone.

Press volume up then volume down then hold the power button until the Apple logo appears on screen.

I've tried that and it doesn't work

 

power button seems to be unresponsive too I can't lock it, when it eventually goes to lock screen itself it unlocks with just a scroll instead of pin code

Never known one to not reset but I guess you'll just have to wait for the battery to go flat.
