iPhone SE restored, can't use iMessage or SMS

I've managed to restore most of the function on my iPhone SE after a soaking but I can't use iMessage. If I switch it on it fails with a message saying 'iMessage Activation An error occurred during activation. Try again.' Under 'Send and receive' my correct phone number appears, I can't remove it. My Apple ID also fails. I am not receiving SMS either. I've tried changing my Apple ID password. Any ideas?

Thank you

I would speak to Apple Support, as it sounds the OS is corrupt, and that could be down to a fried TPM Chip on the phones main board.

- Xperia 1V - o2 and Spusu
- Pixel 8 Pro - o2 and Vodafone UK

@TheNorm

Are any sim functions working such as calls and data?

The sim may be faulty or sim reader failed after it got wet.

Drying out phones is rarely successful in the long term.

Thanks for the response, calls and data are working yes. I just can't seem to convince Apple that the phone is who it claims to be, Wallet not functioning either: just tapping Wallet & Apple Pay in Settings crashes the Settings app. Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the response, sounds like a good suggestion, I'll try Apple Support as you suggest.

Cheers.

The phone is a write off unfortunately.

Water damage does that.
