Hi all,
I ported my number from virgin, I am now with O2 for mobile and virgin for broadband.
I tried getting o2s tube WiFi to work but apparently there are issues if you port your number, and I had no luck.
I thought "no worries" I'll carry on using virgins log in portal with my broadband credentials. They've now shut that down, so I need to go through the O2 WiFi extra network.
Has anyone successfully gotten their ported number working on the tube's (O2) WiFi?

I am not sure any specifics, but Wifi Extra is still working fine but did not connect automatically for me, and would not let me connect if I selected the network.
These steps DID work, however (found on another forum post, linked) - my phone is an android.
1. Open WiFi settings
2. Click Add network
3. Set network name/SSID: Wifi Extra
4. Set security: WPA/WPA2/WPA3-ENTERPRISE (on my phone there was wpa/wpa2 enterprise and wpa3- enterprise as different options, but the first worked fine)
5. Choose EAP method: Sim
6. Click Save
My phone now connects automatically - suggesting that new connections are indeed being accepted.
Annoyingly the o2 web page that explains connecting on the underground doesn't make any reference to this, it just says "If you’re device still isn’t connecting to Wifi Extra, it may be incompatible." which isn't particularly helpful!
@madasaf1sh Given that Virgin's log in method would work on devices such as ipod touches using a standard email address + password for authentication, are you sure there is also a registration of your phone number in these cases?

It's not allowing any new connections as the service is being withdrawn whilst they roll out 4g services.

I'm finding lots of literature saying wifi will still be available for VMO2 users - especially as the 4g rollout won't be done until he end of 2024.
Are you meaning to say that London Underground wifi will be accessible for older users but not new ones?

That's how I understand it, yes @Ruswit

Have you got a link to the article / press release where you read that no new connections will be available?

The 'Virgin Media WiFi' option is no longer available underground.

Virgin Media have switched off their option along with other WiFi connections but I'm not sure if that covers O2
Probably need a statement from them

O2 connections were through Virgin @Ruswit
Without the Virgin wifi there's nothing for O2 extra to connect to.

Is "The 'Virgin Media WiFi' option" not referring specifically to the SSID that existed for accessing the Underground Wifi, rather than "tube wifi in general"? Someone else is apparently picking up the network (BAI)?
Virgin Media customers had to connect to this which would launch a web portal to log in with their virgin mobile or broadband account, whereas o2 and EE customers used things such as Wifi Extra and EE Wifi-Auto.
Wifi Extra is definitely still there, I cannot comment as to whether or not it works still as I haven't successfully managed to connect, despite it supposedly being automatic for o2 customers - this didn't work even before Virgin shut anything off.
