On my Samsung A70, WiFi Calls are not available and the VoLTE switch is greyed out. SIM card status shows IMS not registered. When I put in a SIM from another provider, VoLTE becomes available so it looks like an O2 problem rather than the device. I can't find anywhere in the My O2 app to switch on WiFi and VoLTE calling for my O2 SIM, can anyone help?

@Kickstart955

Are you on PAYG or Pay Monthly?

If on PAYG neither are available.

If on Pay Monthly as others have said you need to contact o2 to enable it.

Apologies for the slow response.

After further investigation it appears that as my phone is unlocked, it doesn't have the specific O2 firmware required to enable WiFi and VoLTE. I have tried the sammobile site which has the firmware but won't let me download it without signing up for an overpriced, self-renewing membership account - they can stick that right here the sun don't shine as far as I'm concerned. They tease you with a restricted free option that doesn't work and just tries to push you into paying for a premium account.

Never mind, if I'm in a situation where I need WiFi calling, I'll just have to borrow my wife's phone with it's small but superior service provider. (Provided she is with me of course). So much for signing up to one of the big four providers, I won't be doing that in a hurry once my O2 contract ends.

There are 4 network operators in the UK - O2, Vodafone, EE & 3UK. Everyone else is an MVNO provider who piggybacks on one of the big-4.

@Kickstart955 You don't need O2 firmware. The Samsung phone you have works perfectly well with O2 and don't accept what CS say to you.

At the moment it simply needs turning on in your account for the options to be visible.

If O2 say it is already turned on (accounts are showing on when it is actually off) Ask them to switch it off and then back on again.

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

Yes I realise that, that's what I meant when I said big four providers. It's just annoying when a MVNO provides you with a service automatically but you have to struggle to get the same service from a main network operator. Constantly borrowing the SIM from my wife's phone is not a practical or acceptable solution!

OK, I'll keep trying, though I must say that the quality of O2 customer service hasn't lived up to my expectations when I moved to a main network operator. Unfortunately I am locked into a 12 month contract so it will be a while before I can switch. Probably be needing a new phone by then anyway!

O2 seem to have a hang up with both 4G Calling and WiFi Calling. O2 owned Giffgaff has 5G and ESIM but not the above

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
