Upgrade from 2G to 4G

I am on Pay As You Go with O2, using an old 2G Doro Mobile. O2 sent me a text saying I will need to upgrade to a 4G device before the end of this year as 2G is being switched off. Within the text they offered a deal on a G4 Doro mobile. My question is: Can I purchase the Doro G4 mobile, remove the sim card from my G2 mobile, put it into the new phone and all will work fine now and when 2G is switched off?

Indeed and I have already covered that above.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Thanks again, M15.... I did an online search & what you say seems to be correct. I'm rather disgruntled that O2 didn't explain as much in their text, and just attempted to make me buy another phone when it was unnecessary.

Thanks Enlli.... I though my query was solved by M15, but you've put a spanner in the works, and I'm back where I started. Ho Hum.

O2 staff in stores have targets on sales. Or they had at one point - be careful as they will want to sell you things, and you don't seem to need it. Ensure they understand you do not need a phone unless you want one. And by the sounds, you probably do not need a contract either, such as pay monthly. However, I'll be honest: I paid £3 for mine, so it was cheaper than pay-as-you-go.

Thanks and regards,
Alexander

Yes, you can purchase the Doro G4 mobile, remove the SIM card from your G2 mobile, and put it into the new phone. When 2G is switched off, the Doro G4 mobile will still work fine as it is compatible with the new network. However, it is important to ensure that the SIM card is properly seated in the new phone's SIM card tray to avoid any connectivity issues.

@Br5 Excellent advice on a 10 month old thread

I'm not sure if the original poster is still around

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
