Hello,
I have a Samsung S23 Ultra. I switched to an ESIM a few days ago. Since switching, if my phone loses signal (e.g. in a lift or on the underground), it does not restore mobile data when signal is restored (this doesn't occur when I leave WiFi coverage or turn it off manually). I am forced to switch flight mode on, then off to regain mobile data (or alternatively disable my ESIM then re-enable).
- I have removed my old physical SIM (makes no difference)
- I have reset all network settings
- I have tried defaulting APN settings
- I have restricting the device to 4G only and manually specifying the O2 network provider
- I have rebooted the phone multiple times
My physical SIM worked fine.
What else can I try?
Cheers

good to hear you got it sorted. When I had the issue I tested my sim in about 5 different phones and an I-Pad all with the same result so def something weird going on O2's end, seems to be all related to swapping to an e-sim, hopefully they can get a permanent fix for it soon.

glad you finally got it sorted. Such a weird issue, hopefully O2 get a permanent fix rolled out soon. When I had the issue I tested my sim in about 6 different phones and an I-Pad and all had the same issue with the data signal just disappearing. Regular voice/text worked fine though. I have a suspicion it was something to do with the 3G network, I noticed my phone dropped the data network when I had maybe only 1 bar of 4G signal. It then reverted to full bars but no data network showing which I suspected was the 3G network. Now that is is fixed it does flip where I live from 1 bar of 4G to full bars of 3G quite regularly. I might well be way off here but I think swapping to the e-sim did some weird glitch in the background and 3G data network access was affected.
