Does anyone know why I cannot use my side buttons on iPhone XR to confirm app downloads and purchases?, I’ve tried everything for resents to turning the various buttons on and off and nothing works, it keeps asking me for my Apple ID whereas before I could click the side buttons, it would recognise my face and download my app

Settings >Touch ID and Passcode and check App store purchases are turned on.
