SMS failing to send to 7726

I am trying to forward a phishing text to 7726 on my Pixel 7a but it fails to send saying:

Message not sent: service not activated on network

I am completely confused by this. Yesterday I sent (rather than forwarded) another message to the same number without any problems.

I have phoned technical support who have got me to do a network reset and a device restart, but it has not helped. Can anyone help me here?

@NickJH

Make sure the phone isn't adding +44 automatically.

Turn off dial assist if activated and try again.

@NickJH 7726 is used by all networks to report suspicious texts. The number is used in the US as well. It may be that your sim has failed. Best thing to do is to call into an O2 store bringing photo ID with you and they'll do a swap for a new sim for you.
