So I joined O2 on a monthly contract this week. Received SIM, activated it yesterday morning and it was working fine, alongside an eSIM from my old operator.
I have ordered porting of my old number, due today.
I have ordered an O2 eSIM, due today or tomorrow, that I'll install after the porting has worked.
Yesterday late afternoon, the O2 SIM went to a not provisioned state, and is still like that today. I kind of expected that might happen on the day of the port, but not the day before. Rebooting the phone/removing & reinserting the SIM/powering down the phone all do not help.
Obviously I will see what happens over the course of the rest of today, hoping this is all a product of the porting exercise, but is this normal - that the O2 SIM goes to a not provisioned state, the day before the porting day?

Port hadn't happened by end of day and O2 SIM was still unprovisioned. But O2 support said the port was completed successfully.
Turns out what had happened was O2 had provisioned the eSIM as soon as it was posted, unilaterally deprovisioning and killing the physical SIM I already had working! As soon as I installed the eSIM it all came to life with my ported number. Would have been ok, were it not for the fact that support had actually instructed me to leave the eSIM alone until the port was done and working using the physical SIM, so as not to be changing too many things at once... A case of O2's left hand not knowing what the right hand was doing, sadly.
Anyway, all's well that end's well...

It sometimes happens. It is generally losing service then after a lot of rebooting comes back online
If you message O2 on Facebook ( https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter ( https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram ( https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help you with this.
