My wife is currently in France, the first time she has been abroad since she switched from 3 to O2 and data roaming isn't working.

She gets a connection, can send SMS and ring me, but get's no data. She connects to the network and can see 5G at the top of her iPhone.

We've reset the network settings, and mobile data and roaming are on. I've a case open with O2, but was just checking my APN which is set to idata.o2.co.uk with a username of vertigo (my phone has been working fine). Is this APN correct? from searching on here I see it should be mobile.o2.co.uk?

Some generic things to try:

Check data roaming is on in phone settings.

Manually search for and try other networks - even if flagged as forbidden.

Turn off 5g

Enable 4g calling (if on contract)

Change your data APN to "mobile.o2.co.uk" if not data is being received. (leave other settings as they are).

Check with O2 whether you have a roaming bar on your account. Do this via social media

If you message O2 on Facebook ( https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (X)( https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram ( https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help.

thanks, done all that, but my APN (that works) is set to idata.o2.co.uk with a username of vertigo.

What should the username and password be for mobile.o2.co.uk?

Sorry I'm not following you, my question was my APN is idata.co.uk for data so should I have her set it to that (as she has an iphone)? Hers was set to talkmobile.co.uk. She has WAP in username and password so assume that needs changing vs leaving other settings as they aer?

Change the apn to mobile.o2.co.uk

The password and username are "password" and "vertigo"

Because you have the iData bolt on and your wife doesn't.

She can ask O2 to add it when your back home and then change the apn back to iData.

Thanks for the explanation.
So when she enters the new APN info and hits the reset button at the bottom of the screen, the phone is resetting the APN to talkmobile.  There is no Save button, only a reset one.

I've had her delete the talkmobile app but it still resets to talkmobile, any idea what is causing that and how to fix it?

Don't hit reset, just change apn and back out of it.

There must be something in the carrier profile which is wrong to still be using the old settings.
