Hi i can call someone whilst abroad but canot recieve verification codes not even to open my 02 account back up

Is it only automated SMS you can't receive - how about person-to-person texts? Try sending yourself one if you're not sure.

Also manually connect to each local network in turn, to rule out an issue in-country.
