I've recently made a purchase from the online shop. O2 have taken the money twice out of my account but no email to confirm order have called customer services and told me I have to wait until the payment has gone through for them to investigate is this correct? And why are they unable to find my current order??

I would guess the order was not successful in which case, O2 don't have the money.
It will be held by your bank as a pending transaction and will be returned to you in line with your banks policy on this.
